At Hillel we believe it is important to combine study with action. It is important to learn principles such as "Tzedek" (Justice) and "Tikkun Olam" (Repairing the World) but they must be translated into action. It is important to volunteer, but it must be done from a position of knowledge and understanding. Therefore, Hillel offers several volunteer opportunities which combine volunteering in the community (for example, volunteering with Holocaust survivors, with the elderly or with immigrants) along with study sessions which offer enrichment and reflection.
During the year, will will organize volunteering days in collaboration with OneDay Social Volunteering
organization and others. Details about these days will be published in the upcoming weeks. Good Deeds Day
, a Project of the Ruach Tova (Good Spirit) Organization, is an annual day dedicated to performing good deeds. Since 2012, Hillel Israel has led the global effort to unite our students worldwide in this celebration of doing good through tzedek, kindness and social action. Over 5,000 students from 24 Hillels in 12 countries around the world, wearing t-shirts saying: "Hillel: Students Doing Good Globally" participated in the project in 2013. In 2014 that number increased to 35 Hillels in 15 countries.
On Good Deeds Day, we will celebrate a day of good doing with international and Israeli students from IDC Herzliya and the global Hillel family. This year, on Tuesday, March 28th 2017, we are offering, in collaboration with the student union, various opportunities for students to volunteer. To read more and register, please go here
